Fees, questions and how it works

Sessions are £60 per 50-minute session, in person in Brackley or online.

The fee

Each session is £60 and lasts 50 minutes. The fee is the same for in-person, video and phone sessions.

Concessions

Concessions are available. Please ask about them when we speak.

The free call

Before you book, we have a free 15-minute phone call. It is a chance for you to ask questions and get a sense of whether you would feel comfortable working with me. There is no obligation to go further.

Paying

You can pay by bank transfer or cash.

Confidentiality

What you say to me is confidential. I do not share it with your family, your employer or your GP.

There are a small number of limits, which I explain before we start: for example if I believe you or someone else is at risk of serious harm, or if the law requires me to share something. I discuss my work with a clinical supervisor without using your name.

Questions people ask

How much does a session cost?
Sessions are £60 per 50-minute session. The fee is the same in person and online.
Is the first call really free?
Yes. Before you book anything we have a free 15-minute phone call. You can tell me a little about what is going on, ask questions, and decide afterwards whether you would like to book. There is no obligation.
Where do sessions take place?
In person at the Brackley Wellbeing Centre, Croft Lodge, 39 High Street, Brackley, or online by video or phone from anywhere in the UK.
How do I pay?
You can pay by bank transfer or cash.
Do you offer concessions?
Concessions are available. Please ask about them when we speak.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no fixed number. Some people come for a few sessions about one particular thing. Others stay longer. We talk about how it is going as we go along, and you can stop whenever you choose.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes. What you say in a session stays between us. There are a small number of limits, which I explain before we start: for example if I believe you or someone else is at risk of serious harm, or if the law requires me to share something. I discuss my work with a clinical supervisor, as all counsellors do, without using your name.
Do you work with people under 18?
No. I work with adults aged 18 and over.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can get in touch with me directly. You do not need to tell your GP unless you want to.
What happens in the first session?
We go through how I work, confidentiality and the practical arrangements, and then the time is yours. You can say as much or as little as you want. Nobody is expected to tell their whole story in 50 minutes.
Can I have sessions by phone instead of video?
Yes. Some people find a phone call easier than being on camera. We can also change between phone, video and in person if your circumstances change.
Can I pay for sessions for someone else?
Yes. Parents sometimes pay for an adult son or daughter, and adult children sometimes arrange sessions for a parent. The person who comes to the sessions is my client, so what they say stays confidential, including from the person who pays.
Where can I park in Brackley?
You can park in the Centre's car park, Pebble Lane, or the High Street.
Are you registered with a professional body?
Yes. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), which holds a register accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). My membership number is NCS22-01598. I am also registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, fully insured, and I work under regular clinical supervision.
What if I need help urgently?
I do not offer a crisis service. If you need urgent help now, call Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24 hours), NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency. For anything else you can reach me on 07595 548 652.
