Counselling for young adults
Your twenties are meant to be the easy part. For a lot of people they are not.
If you are between 18 and 30 and things feel harder than they should, counselling gives you somewhere to say so out loud, to someone who is not your family, your friends or your employer.
What you might be dealing with
You do not need a clear reason to come. These are some of the things people your age talk to me about:
- Anxiety that will not switch off, or that arrives from nowhere
- Low confidence, and comparing yourself with everyone else
- Leaving home, or moving back
- University: the work, the people, or not being sure it is right for you
- A first job, or not being able to find one
- Relationships, break-ups and friendships that have changed
- Feeling behind, as if everyone else has a plan
What counselling with me is like
You talk, and I listen properly. I will not tell you what to do. I will help you understand what is going on and work out what you want to do about it.
We go at a pace that feels right for you. You decide what we talk about.
Online is an easy first step
You do not have to travel or sit in a waiting room. Sessions can be by video or phone from your room, as long as it is private. If you would prefer to meet in person, I see people in Brackley.
Sessions are £60 per 50-minute session. We start with a free 15-minute phone call, so you can see what I am like before you decide.
If you are a parent
Parents often pay for sessions for an adult son or daughter, and I am glad to arrange that.
Your son or daughter is the client. Because they are 18 or over, what they say to me is confidential, and that includes from you. I cannot tell you what we talk about, or whether they attended, unless they ask me to.
The best first step is for them to contact me themselves, when they are ready.
Start with a short call
The first step is a free 15-minute phone call. You can ask anything you like and decide afterwards. There is no obligation to book.
